He'll live! His actions I have blessed.
Suppose he has a son who takes excessive interest,
And lends at usury. He'll die! His actions I detest.
But if this son too has a son who doesn't do the same,
He does not take the pledge for loans, his greed he overcame.
He takes no usury nor interest that is too high,
He will not die for his father's sin, the soul that sins will die.
But if a wicked man turns from the sins he did commit,
He gives back what he took in pledge. His sins I will acquit.
Forgotten will be his offences when I come to judge,
Because of good things he does now, I will not hold a grudge.
But if a righteous man turns from my law to evil way,
None of his righteous deeds will count. He'll die! I do inveigh.
So cleanse yourselves of all your sins and cease to be such fools,
I take no pleasure in the death of men who break my rules."
Ezekiel declared that usury and interest,
Could have a different effect, there was a simple test.
If interest demanded is of something that can breed,
Such interest is payable and not sin I concede.
So if you lend a hundred head and ask to get two more,
That might not be excessive lending that He would abhor.
But if you gain all of the calves and he still owes you some,
That would be judged excessive, that is more than maximum.
And if the interest is on some silver or some gold,
It's usury because there are no babies to behold!
It's interest if principal can breed to multiply,
It's usury if principal cannot so classify.
John C. I don't regard warm fuzzy feelings as evidence that some supernatural being exists and is trying to communicate with me. I mean if the "Holy Ghost" really was that concerned with me or with millions of other people and our relationship with him, don't you think s(he) might be smart enough to figure out a better technique of communicating that love and interest? I mean relying on bronze-age goatherds and a 19th century polygamous treasure hunter (who interestingly translated the book of Mormon into King James English using seer stones) to tell the world about himself is pretty crude. And frankly, your vaunted prophets have never prophesied a damn thing that was important. I would be very impressed if a prophet in the bible had prophesied that boiling water would prevent disease or that earthquakes occurred because of plate tectonics and not the wrath of Yahweh, or that all humans were related to each other and were of equal worth and value in the world. The prophets never seemed to know any more than the most well read minds of their respective ages and sometimes they seemed to know a lot less. The mormon "prophets" are completely hokey: they decided polygamy was out when they wanted statehood for Utah and they decided black men could be priests when racism began dying out some in the 1970's. Convenient. Your "Holy Ghost" seems to be a follower and not a leader Ciaciagi!

Re: How to prove to someone that the Bible is the Word of God?

Preot: Of course I cannot tell you that your personal experience wasn't something that didn't seem real to you. However I must point out that it was an internal, subjective experience that you had. Muslims, buddhists, drug users and schizophrenics also have subjective experiences that are very real to them and also cannot be denied by a nonparticipant. But just because you think you experienced "the very power of the teaching of this book", does not make it true or any more true than anyone else's experience of another religion, a drug or an altered state of consciousness achieved by ascetics or some neural modifying practice or chemicals. If you expect others to believe in your god you must provide materially verifiable evidence, that your god exists. Or that ANY god exists! I would love to see that evidence. Remember I said materially verifiable evidence: not anecdotes or testimonies or other such subjective narrations, but EVIDENCE.

Preot, perhaps you are the one who has not really read the bible very comprehensively: Why not start with a wonderful story showing the morality of Yahweh in Judges chapters 19 to 21? God's tender mercies are shown most bountifully in 1 Samuel chapter 6 (vs 19). God's love of little children is reflected so nicely in 2 Kings 2:22-23. Exodus chapter 4 (20-26) shows god as a little capricious perhaps, first hardening Pharaoh's heart and then ambushing his faithful servant Moses on his way. But FORTUNATELY, Zipporah was quick with a knife and was able to appease the war-god Yahweh with just what he wanted: a child's bloody penile foreskin which she threw on her husband's feet (Quick thinking eh?). Yes Yahweh is an awesome god! But let's not stop here: Lot (whom the book of Hebrews describes as "righteous") has an interesting time with his daughters in Genesis chapter 19 (vs 30-38): Do you really want people to read the bible and emulate its characters Preot? How about the attitude towards killing old people and children in Jeremiah chapter 51 (20-26) or killing the children of "sinners" in Leviticus chapter 26 (21-22). Yahweh promoted mass murder against the Amalekites (1 Samuel 15:2-3) or his "angel" of death in Exodus 23:23? Do you really expect people who are using their brains Preot, to actually read the bible and think it is some kind of remarkable book of wisdom, holiness and guidance authored by some Omnipotent, Omniscient, Omni-benevolent deity??? If your Yahweh war-god can't come up with a better communication device than this hodge-podge of self-serving crap to prove he is omnipotent, omniscient or omnibenevolent to a world he supposedly loves so much, then he is a pretty pathetic character indeed! Really, why Yahweh over Krishna, Zeus, Allah, Thor or especially Mithras? I mean, what evidence is there? You seem to maintain that the bible gives evidence, but I see none in its content or contradictory messages. And the only evidence you have yet given me is that you experienced "the very power of the teaching of this book" whatever that might be. That is not evidence sir, that is testimony. It is not based on verifiable fact or evidence, but based on belief and wishful thinking.Plenty of muslims, athiests, jews and other non christians could give testimonies about how their lives changed for the better when they embraced a new way of doing things or thinking about the themselves or the world, and that does NOT prove that a god, especially a mean, petty, spiteful one like Yahweh exists, even if they THINK that is the reason for their change in life.

Re: How to prove to someone that the Bible is the Word of God?

As a child, I red many stories and fairy tales and later, I even read the "fairy tales" written by Lenin and Marx and even those of Darvin (that man came from monkey). I was just wondering, if the Bible is a book of fairytales, why it was not sold in our stores, I mean the bookstores in the former Soviet Union. You know why? Because the Gospel is the power of God for salvation of everyone who believes and the Gospel of Christ changes lives totally. I searched for the Bible for almost a year and finally I found it at the black market and bought it. I started reading it with your actual conviction, that it was a book of stories and fairy tails written by bronze-age men. After reading the book, I realized that no man of any age can write such a book. After 4 years, I believed in Jesus and entering the New Covenant I experienced the very power of the teaching of this book. How can you tell me that it is not real? Have you experienced that? How can you tell me that there is no Lapusna town in Moldova if you never have been here? Wherefore, I speak the same words unto one nation like unto another. And when the two nations shall run together the testimony of the two nations shall run together also." This is a prophesy being fulfilled today that was written by an ancient prophet in the Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ. In that book, God testifies of the truth of both the Bible and the Book of Mormon (http://lds.org/scriptures/bofm....

The Book of Mormon contains the word of God, and is another witness to the world that Jesus is the Christ, the Redeemer of mankind.

I have read it as I have read the Holy Bible. They both contain the gospel of Jesus Christ and tell us who we should look to for salvation! I have felt the Spirit of God witness the truth of both books to me.

The Book of Mormon, like the Bible, is available for everyone to read and judge for themselves. It will prove the truth of the Bible--that is one of the main reasons for its existence.

Re: How to prove to someone that the Bible is the Word of God?

You misunderstand me Preot! I am completely FOR people reading the Bible! The more they read it (especially the 1st Testament), the more they will see that it is just a collection of stories and fairy tales written by Bronze-aged goatherders to explain their world and pass off their history (and justification for the bad things they did to their neighbors) to their children. Sexual appetites are natural, they are like food. we all want to eat when we are hungry, so also when sexual urges come, we want to satisfy them. But there is a very important thing to note that as a christians it is against the law of God to lust and fornicate. God hates it, and it can ruin a blissful relationship with God. I understand how you feel, i was once like that. I watched pornography, masturbated nearly daily. One thing i noticed through out this time was that my mind was not productive and sound. Can u imagine, if i see a woman expose some parts of her body , lust will rush through my brain, and i sometime may have to run home to masturbate. it was that bad. But God saved me. To overcome this "beast" you must be determined not to offend God with these sins, we must avoid anything, place, person that can fan up lust in our heart like plague, we also must pray to God for help. A conscious effort is needed. No matter how u love to drink alcohol, u don't drink and drive, because you know the consequences. So also meditate on the coansequences of these sins, it can help to flee from it.
"Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them commited, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand" 1 Corinthians 10:8
jide.

Re: What is sexual immorality?

First you ask the Most High sincerely to help you, he already knows you struggle with it but if you are not willing to stop how do you expect things to get better. If you feed the sinful nature... by music, tv, or what you watch listen to then you will do the will of the sinful nature but if you live on the fruit of the spirit and rreading youur bible, praying, abstaining from certain things more and more these things would be easier to block:)

Re: What is sexual immorality?

Find out the fruis of the sinful natue and the fruits of th spirit.., by knowing the fruits of the spirit make it your goal, to follow what the spirit desires then those stuff would be easier to not do.

Re: Jesus Christ condemns the sin of sodomy and calls all homosexuals to repentance

Your analysis of the story of Sodom leaves out the part where the hero, Lot, offers up his virgin daughters to the crowd and then was seduced by his own daughters in order that they might get pregnant by their own father-- which they do. These are the good guys in the story. I'm not sure this is the tale on which I'd base my family values arguments.

Re: Who are the sons of God in the Book of Genesis?

The Bible is like a jigsaw in some respects, so you often have to research through the scriptures to find; in this case the identity of the "sons of God" (Gen. 6 ) Go to Jude 6 which says " And the angels that did not keep their original position ( messengers ) but forsook their own proper proper dwelling place ( heaven ) he has reserved with eternal bonds under dense darkness for the judgement of the great day. verse 7 So too Sodom and Gomorrah and cities about them, after they in the same manner as the forgoing ones ( angels ) had committed fornication excessively and gone out after flesh for unnatural use......... Are you aware that angels originally had the ability to materialise as "human " messengers? e.g. Abraham's visitors. That ability and priviledge was taken away from the disobedient angels who have ever since been referred to as demons.

Re: About Mission in South Africa

great work here Pastor..
